A 6 unit JHS
classroom block has been inaugurated for the people of swedru Holy Quran basic
school in the central region of Ghana. The block which amounted to Gh
266,168.31 was constructed to end the shift system which was being practiced in
the school due to the non – availability of classrooms to accommodate its
growing population.
The school which has two streams
over the years, resulted to the shift system where one stream would come in the
morning and close at 12 pm, with the other stream coming in the afternoon and
closing at 3pm for a week and then changing over.
School
authorities said the situation was very worrying and as such disrupts academic
work which in turn affect the peoples performance, again the teachers are not
able to cover the periods and topics before the term ends especially the
relatively afternoon stream.
Speaking at
the occasion The municipal chief executive of Agona West constituency, Honorable
Samuel Sarpong stated that the government was committed to the provision of
infrastructures to help improve the performance of pupils. The member of parliament, honourable Charles
Obeng inkoom expressed worry about the
poor performance of students in the area during the basic education certificate
examination(BECE) in 2013, stressing that the project was to help raise the
standard of education.
