KWANYAKO METHODIST CHURCH CELEBRATE 10TH ANNIVERSARY

The Methodist church of Ghana, Agona Kwanyako circuit has celebrated its 10^th anniversary after one hundred and three years in the life of its establishment. The church led by the SUPT. MINISTER of the kwanyako Circuit Very Rev.Humphrey Amo – Baiden led the anniversary to DEDICATE THE BETHEL CHAPEL  and in the process dedicated the bethel chapel situated in Agona Kwanyako.

The programme saw in attendance the member of parliament for Agona East and the Deputy Central Regional minister, Honourable Queenstar pokuah Sawyer,RT. REV. COL. RTD William Jonfia, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel K. Asante was represented by Rt. Rev.col Rtd Brewu (Bishop of Akyem Oda)

Speaking on behalf of the most rev. prof. Emmanuel k. Asante, Paul Brewu charged all Christians to live a life worthy emulating

The occasion was also used to unveil a new plaque of the church.

CORPSE DUG OUT OF GRAVE

A week corpse has being dagged out of the grave in Agona Asafo in the central region of Ghana. The late, called Akos who use to be a student of the Omega preparatory school in agona Swedru died last week after complaing of stomache pains and headeache.

            However, on 24^th april 2014, a pastor from winneba reported to the King of Agona Asafo as having seen the victim in his dream asking them to dig her out. The chief of agona Asafo after turning down the pastor’s plea went to farm but the town folks of Agona Asafo went with cutlasses and pick axe and hoe to dig the corpse out without permission but to their dismay and disappointment the body was totally rotten. The youth in an angry manner wanted to rush and beat the pastor but couldn’t find him.

UTAG SUSPENDS INTENDED STRIKE

The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has suspended its intended strike until the expiration of the negotiation period. Utag threatened to embark on strike on Tuesday  april 16 2014if the National Counsel for Tertiary Education fails to initiate process to pay their book and research allowances for the 2013/2014 academic year.  this latest development follows meeting with the national labour authority and government representatives including jane nana opoku agyeman minister of education.

            In an intervieiw with a lecturer and member of Utag . mr. Bright Amoah, they are still negotiating with the government to listen to their plea too. If it is headed to then they cancel the pending   strike but if they don’t pay their allowance then the strike will sure come on. However students of the university of education winneba has appealed to the government to pay what ever is due them to ensure smooth academic calendar.

COCOA PRICES NOT HELPIING FARMERS

A 60 year old cocoa Farmer in the central region of Ghana Mr. Buabeng Francis has said that the current cocoa prices offered per bag by government is very bad and not helping farmers at all. To him, prices of products and services has gone up and this has definitely affected everything they buy like agrochemicals and the likes

            The farmer cum shopkeeper and tailor said he plans the time in such a way that he can take good care of his family. This he does by doubling up as a shop keeper, tailor and a cocoa farmer.

 Asked whether they still suffer cocoa diseases? He said they face it very much and that if you don’t take good care of the cocoa  and apply the right number of  chemicals the cocoa disesases  may end up destroying the entire cocoa farm. He lamented that since government couldn’t fulfil the yearly promise to spray the cocoa for them he should pay them their due when they fight to bring the seeds on board.

            He finally advised the youth especially those in Agona Kwanyako to double up their work to about two or three jobs because man mas strive to eat everyday.

KIA BUS FALL INTO NKUMKUM RIVER WITH DRIVER’S MATE

It was an eyesaw on Independence Day when a kia car with registration number Gs 4658 9 fell into the Nkumkum river at Agona Kwanyako located in the central region. The car which was heading towards Agona Swedru with loads of tiles fell into the Nkumkum River when he gave way to an overtaking car.

The driver of the car was taken out of the river at exactly 5:30am but the mate suffered a serious crisis as he stayed in the River for as long as 3 hours because he was chocked in the car. Residents tried their best to bring the driver’s mate out but to no avail. The police came in with an ambulance to save the situation but was also to no avail. Finally a towing car was brought in to lift the car and save the driver’s mate but as they lifted the car the mate shouted with immense pain. The situation was brought under control when residents cut parts of the car with cutlasses and axes. Finally the mate was taken out alive and sent to the Agona Swedru hospital. Some residents and the police spoke to ATV news.
